Kaltbach Alpine Creamy is a Premium cave-aged semi-hard Swiss cheese, made with pasteurised cow’s milk, and has a natural black-brown rind.
Cave-aged in a 22-million year old sandstone cave in Kaltbach, Switzerland where cavemasters have been refining cheese for more than 60 years. The cave lies at the foot of the Santenberg Hilltops, formed during the last Ice Age when sand was carried down by a glacier. There is a small tranquil river that runs through the cave which inspired the name; Kaltbach means ‘’cold brook’’ and it’s what allows for a constant level of humidity, perfect for ripening.
Kaltbach Creamy is aged for approximately 4 - 5 months and the milk is sourced from Zentralschweiz, which is then pasteurised and cream added to give it a rich, smooth character.
